She later admitted her mistake and apologized for leaving out her husband and children in her speech. Underwood thanked God and her work team, and paid tribute to legendary female country artists during her performance. She tied with Thomas Rhett for the prestigious award, and also performed her hit song "Before He Cheats" during the show. The ACM Awards were held in Nashville without a live audience due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
