Tim McGraw recently appeared on Good Morning America’s Summer Concert Series to celebrate the release of his new album, Standing Room Only. Despite the rainy weather, a packed-out crowd of fans eagerly awaited his performance in New York City. Dressed in a white ensemble, paired with black boots and his signature black cowboy hat, McGraw took the stage and treated the audience to several tracks from his latest album, including the title track and "Hold On To It," as well as a throwback hit from 1999, "Something Like That."
The crowd enthusiastically sang along to his traditional country sound, displaying their excitement and appreciation for the live celebration of the newly released collection. Following his performance, McGraw spoke with GMA’s Lara Spencer to discuss the album and his upcoming tour. He revealed that the project had been in the works for the past three years and expressed his satisfaction with its release, stating that it felt "good to finally have it out."
McGraw explained that the inspiration behind the album came during his touring hiatus in 2020, when live concerts were no longer possible. Rather than dwelling on the difficult times, he channeled his energy into writing music that would bring positivity and brightness to the world. The result is a collection of life-affirming songs with meaningful messages about personal growth.
Released via Big Machine Records, Standing Room Only features 13 tracks produced by McGraw and his longtime partner Byron Gallimore. The album showcases McGraw's signature country sound, showcasing his charming vocals and meaningful lyrics. In a previous press release, he described it as one of the best projects he has ever made, emphasizing his constant drive to improve as an artist.
Fans had a preview of the album through early released tracks like "Hey Whiskey," "Remember Me Well," and the title track, which has been steadily climbing the Billboard and Mediabase radio charts since its release in March. Standing Room Only marks McGraw's 92nd career entrance onto Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart.
After a busy year of touring in 2022, Tim McGraw is preparing to embark on the Standing Room Only Tour in 2024, named after his album. The tour, produced by Live Nation, will visit more than 30 cities, starting on March 14. Special guest Carly Pearce will accompany him on the tour. When asked if his wife, Faith Hill, might make an appearance, McGraw expressed his hope, mentioning that he's always trying to get her on stage, although she's content watching from the sidelines.
Before the tour kicks off, McGraw has several festival performances lined up, including Coastal Country Jam and the iHeartRadio Music Festival. With the release of Standing Room Only and the anticipation surrounding his upcoming tour, Tim McGraw continues to captivate audiences with his timeless country sound and his ability to deliver heartfelt, relatable music.
