revealed the 'greatest thing' about being a coach on was that it led him to now-fiancée . 

The 44-year-old country singer revisited his time as an on-screen mentor over the last 20 seasons, ultimately sharing that the highlight of it all was meeting the No Doubt singer back in 2014. 

'People ask me all the time, "What's the greatest thing that has happened for you since you've been on The Voice?"' he recalled, quickly adding 'That's a no-brainer, right? I met my fiancée here.'

Blake's gushing confession came as part of the 'Road to Lives — 10th Anniversary Edition' episode where the coaches look back on their journey as part of the NBC competition show. 

'It's hard to resist Gwen Stefani. You know, here's this iconic rock star coming to be a coach on The Voice in a black minivan. That was cool to me.' 

He continued: 'I love it when she's here. She brings a very complicated element of competition, for me in particular. But I love that. I love the challenge. Just knowing that she's there, and she has my back, is pretty cool.' 

The two first came into contact as respective coaches on Season 7 of the show, Stefani, 51, once revealing to Andy Cohen that she 'didn't even know he was a human being on this planet,' before the series.

'I didn't even know he existed before the show,' Stefani said on Cohen's SiriusXM Radio Andy show in September 2019. 'I didn't even know that he was a human being on this planet.' 

And he revisited his first impression of the Hollaback Girl singer when she first stepped on set in conversation with in February where he said he was a bit starstruck.  

'I remember enjoying her performance, and then after the show, we all took a group picture. It was very much an industry-type meeting, and I told people, "I met Gwen Stefani. That's crazy."'  

The relationship between the two took off in front of viewers eyes and what started as a flirty friendship grew into more in 2015, with Blake saying in a 2016  interview that Gwen 'saved my life.'

'Who else on earth could understand going through a high-profile divorce from another musician? You can't even imagine the similarities in our divorces,' he said while touching on his 2015 divorce from Miranda Lambert and hers from Gavin Rossdale — which coincided with their meeting.  

The couple announced their engagement in October 2020, Shelton revealing in The Voice clip that he 'would have laughed,' if someone told him they would be together years ago. 

'If you had told me back in 1996 that Gwen Stefani was going to be my girlfriend, I would have laughed you out of the room,' the Nobody But You singer said.  

But she has made her love for him known publicly as well, telling  Magazine that she's never looked better than when she's kissing Blake.

Though they have every intention of heading down the aisle — and have even received bids from fellow The Voice judge Miley Cyrus to be their wedding — Stefani said she wants a special day free from COVID-19 pandemic worry. 

Speaking about wedding planning amid a pandemic to  in December she said: 'I really would rather it not be a COVID situation. I would rather not have masks and that kind of thing — and even when you cut it down to just family, it's still too many people for COVID.'
