In 1996, Jimmy Buffett and Bono were shot at by Jamaican police while aboard Buffett's plane. They were mistaken for drug smugglers and had to dive for safety as the bullets hit the plane. Bono and his family left Jamaica after the incident, while Buffett stayed behind to resolve the situation. Buffett later wrote a song called "Jamaica Mistaica" about the incident. He saw it as karma and chose not to sue the government. Jimmy Buffett passed away on September 1st at the age of 76.
