ABC has greenlit a pilot starring comedian and Tennessee native Nate Bargatze. The pilot was in development last year at Fox, before moving to ABC and still not getting a series order this pilot season. According to Deadline, the network ordered the show to pilot after pilot season in order to secure director Drew Goddard. The currently untitled pilot will be loosely based on Bargatze’s life and comedic observations. The show will follow Bargatze and his TV-wife and daughter as they move from California to his home state of Tennessee, where “[t]hey find the pursuit of a simple life to be much more complicated than they imagined,” per Deadline. Jerrod Carmichael and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel will executive-produce with Bargatze, with Sanchez-Witzel serving as showrunner.
