Dolly Parton is a delight amongst the controversial celebrities of today’s day and age. She is the one who we turn to for wholesome news to brighten up our day. Her great sense of humor and candidness is what gravitates people to watch her interviews.
For the unversed, Dolly Parton is a singer, songwriter, businesswoman, actor, and philanthropist. Parton truly is the jack of all trades and also the master of them all. She ruled over the ’60s and ’70s country music industry, and gave hits such as , and to name a few. These songs dominated the radio charts once they hit the station.
She is still relevant because of her unapologetic, hyper-femme style and personality which people can’t seem to get enough of. All in all, she is an absolute legend.
says she is glad that her husband Carl Dean isn’t in the same business she is. Although they share a vast majority of interests, that doesn’t mean they cannot have their own lives and identity. She thinks it’s important for couples to spend time away from one another and do what they love. This fact doesn’t mean the spouse doesn’t support or love each other any less. Dolly Parton says not to lose oneself in the marriage.
Some might say it is her way of teasing the new-age couples, but whatever anyone says it is a piece of solid advice. She also feels that there is a great need for humor in every aspect of life. In an interview with her god-daughter , Parton said,
“And I think humor, honestly, is one of the best things when you’re married like that. Even if you have a problem, if you have a great sense of humor, if you say something you can’t take back [you] usually have some crazy way of getting out of it.”
Dolly Parton says it is all about being able to share a laugh at the end of the day.
In the true meet-cute fashion, the couple bumped into each other at a laundromat in Nashville in 1965. Parton was fairly new to the game and had moved there just recently. The rest was something out of a fairy tale, well, a much more realistic one. Keeping a relationship intact for so long takes hard work and a lot of effort. Respecting each other through it all comes first on the list, even before love.
The couple is now 56 years strong and there’s no slowing down. There might be a speed bump here and there, but there’s nothing they can’t handle now after spending more than half a century together.
Dolly Parton is planning a surprise her beloved husband in her upcoming album.
“He loves all of the songs. And I haven’t told him yet who I’m going to have on. I don’t even know myself, who all is going to be on it. But he’ll love it. I’m doing so many of his favorite songs on the album, so I’ll play it to him when it’s all done,”
This is something truly rare, the bond that they share. Here’s to hoping we all find someone who supports us the way they support each other. They are the #couplegoals in the truest sense.
