Cody Johnson is preparing to drop another double album. 

The country superstar recently broke the news of his next project during an interview with Audacy's KMLE Country 107.9 at Country Thunder in Arizona. 

He revealed that his next double album will feature 24 tracks titled Cody Johnson: Leather. "I wanna go ahead and sneak peek, I'm working on a new double album," Johnson began.

The Texas native beamed with pride as he went on to tack high expectations onto the forthcoming project. 

"This round of 24 songs I have to say is the best round of songs I have ever recorded, and I feel like that's the way it should be," he continued "Each album should outdo the last one."

This collection will serve as Johnson's second consecutive double album, following his October 2021 project, Human, which featured a total of 18 tracks including chart-topping hits "'Til You Can't" and his current single "Human."

"There's some fun stuff," he added. "I think the theme of this new album is fun. It doesn't matter whether it's a ballad or whether it's tongue-in-cheek kinda fun. It all has to be fun, it all has to make you kind of want to move around and bob your head a little bit," Johnson added. 

The big question is, when will fans be able to get their hands on the new project? He responded, "maybe by the end of the year, maybe next year."

During another recent interview on CMT Hot 20 Countdown with Cody Alan, the "Dance Her Home" singer dropped some news regarding the track list for his upcoming album. He revealed that he has recorded a duet with fellow country star, Carrie Underwood. 

"I actually just recorded a duet with her yesterday for my new album coming out," Johnson told the outlet. 

While discussing his time working with the "Hate My Heart" singer, Johnson commended her and her team for their professionalism. 

"So, getting to know her, man she's such a pro and everybody that she surrounds herself with are all very professional as well. And I don't mean this to sound bad, but it's kind of hard to compete with that," he said. 

In 2022, Johnson teased that he would be releasing three different albums between 2022 and 2023. He shared that these projects will include a live album, a concept album, and a new studio album.

So far, he has unveiled a live album titled, Cody Johnson & The Rockin' CJB Live, which arrived on December 2, 2022.

"There is nothing I enjoy more than getting to play live shows with this band," Johnson shared in a statement. "We've travelled a lot of miles in the last 15 years and lived a lot of life together. This record is allowing us to deliver a live concert directly to the fans."   

"I go back next month to record a new project and as soon as that project is done, I'm going back to record another project that I've got lined up," Johnson added.

Cody Johnson is currently in the midst of his Cody Johnson & Friends Tour, which kicked off on January 20 in Lafayette, LA with Randy Houser. 

Once he wraps up his run of U.S. dates on August 5 in Sweet Home, OR, the singer will join Luke Combs for the international leg of his massive 2023 World Tour. Picking things back up August 9, this trek will bring Johnson to Australia and New Zealand. 

Johnson is also scheduled to perform at several festivals this year including Sistrunk Farms Auburn Rodeo, Scope Arena Patriotic Festival, CMA Fest, Winstock Country Music Fest, Country Jam, Nebraskaland Days, Country Stampede, Country Thunder Wisconsin, Cheyanne Frontier Days and more.
